Senate Bill 1619

To amend the Communications Act of 1934 to require schools and libraries to provide filtered Internet service for minors.


This bill was introduced by Senator John McCain.


Amends the Communications Act of 1934 to prohibit universal telecommunications services from being provided to schools that fail to utilize a filtering system to block minors from exposure to inappropriate Internet material. A similar requirement is made for libraries that fail to provide filtered Internet service on at least one of their computers.
